This assignment asks you to discuss a tragic case of gender assignment for David/Brenda Reimer. I use a male pronoun because that was ultimately his choice. After reading about his story and the sections on gender identification, gender typing, and stereotypes, discuss your views on the development of David/Brendaâ€™s gender identity. You might discuss the timing of his gender reassignment surgery (22 months from male to female), the age he was told about it (14 years), and the influence of nature versus nurture in gender identity.

To clarify, the purpose of this exercise is for you to comment on the development of gender identity, as illustrated by this case. For the purposes of this course, I am less interested in your opinion of this tragedy, and more interested in how you believe it illustrates the development of gender identity. You can find more information about this case on the internet if you are interested or want more information/content for an interesting post
