TOPIC: Nietzsche explicitly mentions a “drive to knowledge” in BGE and it seems clear that it constitutes one half of the “magnificent tension of the spirit” mentioned in the preface. But Nietzsche’s language often makes it seem that he denies that we can have any knowledge of the truth (despite having such a drive) and that it does not really matter if our beliefs are false. Using the text, present evidence that could be read as supporting this interpretation and then provide an argument to show why the obvious “surface” reading of the text is misleading, .i.e. show why Nietzsche is in fact not committed to “falsification”.
